THE BEER LAB
Boasting Chiang Mai’s largest selection of beers, the Beer Lab is a must for craft beer fans. Listings change from time to time but this large Nimman establishment offers the chance of tasting craft US, European and Japanese beers as well as those produced by Thai brewer Stone Head. The Beer Lap typically carries around 200 bottled beers and 20 draught ones. Steaks and grilled and seasoned meats are the perfect accompaniment to the beer.

Chiang Mai’s original Western-style watering hole, the Pub is still going strong five decades later. The building is an interesting mix of Thailand and England. The bar area features timber beams, bar stools and comfortable armchairs. Guinness, Fuller’s and a whole host of Thai and draft beers provide drink variety. The onsite restaurant serves classic English and Thai dishes. The Pub has a good-sized garden which is shaded and a haven from the hustle and bustle of Nimmanhaemin.

THE BEER REPUBLIC
The Beer Republic is another top venue for the serious beer drinker. This pub looks as though it could have been airlifted from central Europe and dropped on Nimmanhaemin Soi 11. What is actually on tap or in bottles does vary with what is available on any given day, but there are always at least one German weissbier, an IPA and a Belgian fruit beer on offer. Paulaner and Hoegaarden seem to be among the resident beers. The Beer Republic is a little on the pricy side, when compared to Thai bars. A taster of five beers does help keep costs down.
