Chiang Mai’s gay scene is not as vibrant and in-your-face as say Boyztown in Pattaya. Nevertheless, Chiang Mai does have quite a few pubs, clubs, karaoke lounges and a go go bars for gays and LGBTs. They are split between two main areas. Chiang Mai’s new and fast evolving gay bar zone is on Charoen Prathet Road Soi 6. This soi links Chang Khlan Road and Charoen Prathet Road and is right beside the Kalare Night Market. The Ram and Secrets are a duo of the bars in this area.
The second main area for gay bars and clubs is Chang Phuak. The venues here are more spread out and include Adam’s Apple and the Lotus Hotel’s Garden Bar. This zone spans the northern part of the city between Santitham and Chang Phuak Road. The What’s Up recommendations for the best gay friendly pubs, clubs and a go go bars in Chiang Mai are shown below.
