The Royal Thai Embassy in the Laos capital city of Vientiane has introduced a new system for visa applications. Effective from today, the 1st of February 2019, travellers wishing to apply for visas to enter Thailand now have to pre-book an appointment to submit their applications. The Consular Section for the Thai Embassy Vientiane has launched a dedicated webpage at http://thaivisavientiane.com for the new online appointments system.
The old webpage at http://thaivisavientiane.org is no longer in use. Using the new webpage, visa applicants can pre-book their appointments up to one month in advance. A link to download visa application forms is provided on the webpage and the FAQs link gives more details about deadlines for cancelling appointments, visa fees and the supporting documentation required.
The website notes that anybody applying for Transit, Tourist or Non-Immigrant visas will need to book appointments because consular staff are not allowed to accept applications from people who walk in. The only exceptions to the new requirement are people applying for Diplomatic, Class F Official and Labour Class L-A visas.
